Apples in Abundance? Here's how you can make use of your apple haul.

So, you went apple picking or you received a basket of apples for the holidays. Now what?:

A list of things you can do with your apple haul.

If you’re like me you went apple picking this fall. I had a great time driving out of the city, soaking in the breathtaking foliage, and the yummy treats. I had apple cider, apple cider donuts and worms in the dirt. I took insta-worthy photos in my plaid, leisurely walked through the farm, picked my apples and then thought - what am I going to do with all off these apples?

If you’re like me and are trying to avoid apple waste, or if you’re just looking for different ways to eat apples, you’ve come to the right place.

1. Eat them!

Ok, so this is an obvious one… I’m not sure if the old saying, “an apple a day keeps the dentist away” is true, but if it is you’re in luck.

2. Apple Cake

I love cake and exploring new ways to use my bundt cake pan. Making an apple cake is a great way to use your apples. In this case, you can have your cake and eat it too.

3. Apple Muffins

I am new in the baking game and apple muffins was the first apple bake I tried. In fact you can check out the link to my recipe here (https://www.yestodessert.com/recipes/2019/4/27/apple-cinnamon-muffins). These muffins are a nice addition to any breakfast, or for a midday snack.

4. Apple Pie

Tried and true apple pie. Pictures here is my first attempt at a double crusted apple pie. Apple pie is a classic for a reason and goes well with vanilla ice-cream and or whipped cream for an indulgent apple treat.

5. Mini Apple pies

I had so much fun cutting out the stars for these apple pie minis. You can get creative, using any shape of your choosing for the top layer of these mini pies

6. Apple Turnovers

Apple turnovers are one of my favorites. The flaky pastry dough pairs so well with the apples.

7. Apple and croissants

Want to spice up your regular croissant dough? Try including apples for a yummy baked treat that can be eaten for breakfast.

8. Stewed apples - for breakfast

Speaking of breakfast. Adding stewed apples to oatmeal (as shown here), with other breakfast foods, or own its own are a great way to use excess apples.

9. Apple sauce

Another classic. Homemade apple sauce is easy to make and you have the freedom to add what ever flavors you like, such as cinnamon, vanilla or brown sugar, for example to make it your own.

So there you have it, nine ways to make use of your apple haul. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. Now I’d like to hear from you. What do you do when you have extra apples lying around?

Best,

Marissa
