Best Ice Cream in Brooklyn!

This is my second summer living in Boston. Still, for years, I have spent my summers in Brooklyn and have accumulated a list of must try ice cream shops.  As we press through another week of scorching temperatures, I would like to share with you some of the best places to get ice cream in Brooklyn, NY.

1.     Blue Marble Ice cream

186 Underhill Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238; https://www.bluemarbleicecream.com/;

(718) 399-6926

When visiting Blue Marble, I typically go for the chocolate. Yet, there’s so many flavors to choose from at this cozy ice cream shop in Brooklyn. They also have takeout containers, so you can have your favorite flavors on the go. How cool is that?!

2.     Ample Hills Ice cream

623 Vanderbilt Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238; https://amplehills.com/; (718) 483-8199

For your convivence, there are several Ample Hills locations throughout Brooklyn. One of my favorite flavors is the “Snap, Crackle, Pop” that reminds me of Rice Krispies Treats.

3.     Davey’s Ice Cream

74 Meserole Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222; daveysicecream.com; (718) 609-6066

Davey’s ice cream has been my go-to for brownie sundaes, which you should certainly check out. But, if you know me, you know I love an ice cream cake. One year, we got one for my grandmother’s birthday who also loves ice cream and ice cream cake, and it was a hit.

4.     Lady Moo

365 Chauncey St, Brooklyn, NY 11233; https://www.facebook.com/LadyMooMoo/;

(201) 844-9994

Be sure to check out Lady Moo for a weekend treat. Don’t let the lines deter you, it is worth the wait. I typically go for the “Better Pecan”.

5.     Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

 14 Old Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11201; brooklynicecreamfactory.com; (718) 522-5211

If you like your ice cream with a view, be sure to check out the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory. I had the cookie cookie shake and I was stopped on the street by someone who wanted to know where I got it from.

6.     Brooklyn Farmacy

 513 Henry St, Brooklyn, NY 1123; brooklynfarmacyandsodafountain.com; (718) 522-6260

Visiting Brooklyn Farmacy takes you back in time to the 1920’s with its décor and old timey shakes. Pictured is the Oreo Milkshake. They also have a peanut butter shake I favor as well.

7.     Emack and Bolios

741 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11217; https://emackandbolios.com/; (347) 987-3944

Emack and Bolios is an ice cream spot I stumbled upon and I’m so glad that I did. Pictured is the cookies and cream ice cream.

8.     Odd Fellows Ice Cream

44 Water St, Brooklyn, NY 11201; oddfellowsnyc.com; (718) 683-5755

I’m all here for sprinkles, always! Pictured is two scoops of sprinkle ice cream on a waffle cone.

9.     Kith Ice Cream

233 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217; https://kith.com/; (347) 889-6114

When you think of Kith, ice cream may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But this shop is selling more than sneakers. At this ice cream shop, you can choose from a variety of cereals to be finely mixed in with the ice cream.

10.  Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

81 Bergen St, Brooklyn, NY 11201; vanleeuwenicecream.com; (347) 763-2979

There’s no way I could make a list of the best places to get ice cream in Brooklyn and not include Van Leeuwan Ice Cream. Although you can now buy Van Leeuwen in the grocery store (yay!) going out for an ice cream cone is one of life’s simple pleasures.

There you have it… 10 of the best spots to get ice cream in Brooklyn, NY. I admit writing this list was difficult. All the places listed (in no order) are great. But there were some others that I enjoyed in Brooklyn, that are permanently closed due to the pandemic. As we continue to rebuild, I hope we are remined of the importance of supporting small business and those who add to the fabric of our communities.

All the best,

Marissa
