Waffles for One

Hey All,

So glad to have you apart of the Yes to Dessert community. I’m so excited to share the recipe for “waffles for one”.

I enjoy my time in the kitchen in all phases of life. Except, perhaps when I’m sick. Cooking (and eating) is my go activity when I’m excited, stressed, or feeling adventurous. Sometimes I listen to music, podcasts, or with the news in the background, adorned in my apron and chef’s hat labeled “Chef Rissi” gifted to me by my grandfather for an extra razzle dazzle. Often, I cook out of necessity; after all I need to eat. But there’s certain things I especially look forward to. Like having a freshly made waffle on the weekends.

Living alone means I don’t often have an audience to cook for. Many recipes (including those often for waffles) are developed for multiple people. So I’m glad to share this recipe for one. Hope you enjoy :)

Ingredients:

1 Egg

3 TBS of Milk

1 TBS of Butter (melted)

1/2 TSP of Vanilla

1/2 TSP of Baking powder

1/4 cup & 3 TBS of Flour

2 TBS of Sugar

Optional Fill-ins: (i.e blueberries, chocolate chips, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together wet ingredients.

  2. Fold in dry ingredients. Note, if the batter is  wetter than you prefer, you may fold in a TSP of flour in at a time until the batter is your preferred consistency.

  3. (Optional): Fold in add- ins (i.e blueberries, chocolate chips, etc.) being careful to over fill. You can always add more toppings on top.

  4. Add batter to waffle iron. Do not over fill to avoid spillage. Cook according to your waffle iron’s instructions. A good rule of thumb is to not check on the waffle until all of the steam has disappeared.

  5. Enjoy!

I want to hear from you! What are your favorite waffle toppings & add ins?
